A specialist cut-to-length manufacturer with models spanning thinning through to 25-tonne heavy forwarding. The DH7 head, introduced in 2026 specifically for eucalyptus plantation harvesting, and the 2026 Thin Line thinning machines show a range being actively tuned to distinct market segments.
Ponsse is a cut-to-length specialist, and the range reflects a manufacturer that has segmented the market carefully rather than offering one machine for every job. Harvesters run from Beaver and Cobra through Ergo, Bear and the Scorpion family; forwarders span roughly 10 tonnes in thinning configuration to the 25-tonne Mammoth.
Two developments matter to Australian buyers specifically. The DH7 harvester head was introduced for eucalyptus plantation harvesting, with strong debarking capability, feed speed up to 6 m/s, and emphasis on maintenance access, structural durability and fuel economy. Separately, thinning-focused Scorpion and Wisent Thin Line machines were announced, including a 10-tonne Wisent built around thinning.
That segmentation is the commercial point. A manufacturer building a distinct machine for thinning and a distinct head for eucalyptus is acknowledging what generalist specifications obscure — that corridor width, residual crop damage and debarking performance are different problems from clearfell throughput.
