Rock drives consumption and slows progress simultaneously, so the cost per hectare is hit from both directions. Walking representative ground before quoting is cheap by comparison.
The SFM multifunction is a tractor attachment for 160-300 horsepower that mulches, tills and crushes rock in one unit, handling trees to roughly 350 mm, stumps to 450 mm and stone to 200 mm. The guide's positioning line is the honest one: it is for reclamation, not maximum production.
Multifunction attachments trade peak performance in each role for the ability to complete a sequence in fewer passes. On reclamation, conversion and site-preparation work where vegetation, stumps and rock all have to be dealt with, that can be the better economics — and on work where only one of those is present, a dedicated implement will beat it.
Indicative published manufacturer and distributor information. Confirm every figure, lift chart and hydraulic requirement with the manufacturer or authorised dealer before purchase.
A specification table tells you what the machine is. This is what each of those numbers means for the work you would put it to.
Each of these can fail independently, and passing one says nothing about the others. Weight class alone is the weakest of the four and the one most often relied on.
Beyond the standard buying criteria for the class, these are the questions this machine in particular raises.
The commercial case is fewer passes on mixed sites. Where vegetation, stumps and rock all have to be handled, completing them in one operation saves mobilisations and implement changes that a specialised approach incurs.
Rock is the cost variable that most often breaks a quoted rate. Tooth and tool-holder consumption on rocky ground can exceed the entire consumable allowance in a quote, and it is not visible from a brochure or a tender document.
Tractor utilisation across the year is what makes the combination affordable. An implement used only in an establishment window on a tractor that works the rest of the year is a very different proposition from a dedicated machine standing idle for ten months.

Power is only part of it. Sustained PTO duty, hydraulic provision, weight distribution and cooling all matter for continuous work, and a tractor in the power band may not be configured for it.
Where only mulching or only tilling is required, a dedicated implement will out-produce the multifunction unit. The combination earns on sites where all three functions are genuinely needed.
